Apple variety Pervouralskaya

Pervouralskaya is an apple variety bred by the Sverdlovsk Experimental Gardening Station with fruits of late winter ripening. Derived from the variety Persian... The authorship belongs to the breeder L.A. Kotov. The name of the apple tree speaks for itself: it is the first variety bred in the Urals, with immunity to all 5 scab races. The variety is included in the State Register for the Volga-Vyatka region.

The trees are medium-sized and show intensive growth rates in the first years after planting. The crown is wide, rather dense, highly oval in shape. Shoots of medium size, rather thick, round in shape, dark brown in color, fleecy, compact. Leaves are medium in size, ovoid, dark green in color. The surface of the leaf blade is smooth.

In terms of size, the fruits of the Pervouralskaya apple tree are large, one-dimensional: the average weight of an apple is 125 - 160 g, but it is worth noting that in an amateur garden, the weight of individual fruits can reach 280 - 300 g. The shape of the fruits is correct, round. The apples are greenish-yellow in basic color, the integumentary color is very beautiful - an orange-red blurred blush of varying intensity on most of the fruit. The subcutaneous dots are few in number and hardly noticeable, medium in size, light in color.

The pulp is creamy, dense, fine-grained structure, juicy, slightly aromatic, good and very good saturated sweet and sour taste. The keeping quality of the variety is very high. The harvesting period falls on the end of September, after which the fruits still lie and ripen until the beginning of December. From this moment the consumer period begins, it lasts until the end of May. However, some gardeners assure that, if the correct storage conditions are created, it is possible to keep apples fresh throughout the summer period, until the beginning of September.

Trees begin to bear fruit for the first time in 4 - 5 years after planting. At the same time, with each subsequent year, the yield of the variety increases rather quickly (the fruits also grow larger). Fruiting is regular, the average yield is 200 c / ha.

The trees are winter-hardy, drought-resistant, highly resistant to scab.
Many experienced gardeners highly appreciate the Pervouralskaya apple tree and recognize it as the best Ural variety among all available apple varieties.

The Pervouralskaya apple tree, grafted with a cuttings on a wild seedling, began to bear fruit last year, in the fifth year after grafting. The tree is still small, below 1.6 m. In the first year, one apple was set, this year (the second year of fruiting) - nine pieces. The apples are very large, beautiful, with a sunny side with a red blush. After picking up, the apples should lie down. The fruits are sweet, very tasty. Unfortunately, we did not check how much is stored, we ate everything. If they will also be stored for a long time, then there is no price for this variety!

Another important remark. Last year, a nearby apple tree of the Uralskoye Bulk variety was sick with scab, but did not notice it on Pervouralskaya. The only apple and leaves were clean!

Apples are excellently stored, but they cannot be stored in polyethylene - they will turn black. But the variety really has no price and we start eating these apples in early September. The other 8 apple trees are "resting" incl. Lobo and Welsey.
