Pear variety Krasulia

Krasulia is an early summer pear of the selection of the South Ural Research Institute of Fruit and Vegetable and Potato Growing (abbreviated GNU YUNIIPOK, Chelyabinsk). Bred through hybridization of 2 varieties - Late x Little joy. The author of the variety is E.A. Falkenberg. In 1987, the seedling was allocated to the elite. In 2002, the variety was zoned in the Ural region.

Pear variety Krasulia

The plantings of this pear are found mainly in the Ural and West Siberian regions: in addition to plantings on the experimental fields of YUNIIPOK itself, Krasula is bred both for industrial production and for personal purposes by amateur gardeners.

The trees are medium in size and have an average vigor, reaching a height of 4 meters. The crown is of medium height and rounded, slightly spreading; the branches are arranged compactly and have a straight shape, the ends are directed upward, when they leave the trunk, they form an almost right angle. A distinctive feature of this variety is the presence of thorns in the crown, which somewhat complicates the collection of fruits. The barrel is tapered and slightly curled. The bark on the trunk and main branches is greenish in color, with peeling. Fruiting is of a mixed type: fruit formations are tied on simple and complex ringlets, short fruit twigs, sometimes trees bear fruit on last year's increments.

Flowering occurs in the middle period: from 15 to 20 May. The best pollinating varieties: Rainbow, Severyanka.

Shoots of medium size, straight, hairy, brown in color. The leaves are medium-sized, wide, rounded, green in color, with short-pointed tips and small-crested edges. Leaf blade without pubescence, with slight venation and curvature downwards. The petioles are rather thick, long, and fleecy. Stipules are large, lanceolate.

The flower buds are large, elongated in shape. The flowers are large, very fragrant, small chalice-shaped, white in color. The petals are oval in shape. Column of pistils of medium size; stigmas are at the level of anthers.

The fruits of the Krasul pear are small, below the average size (weighing an average of 90 g, the largest specimens do not exceed 120 g), medium one-dimensional, flattened-rounded, bergamot-like. The skin is tender, oily, with a smooth surface and a glossy sheen. At the moment of ripening, the fruits are green, the integumentary color occupies a smaller part of the fruit in the form of a red blush. In the period of consumer maturity, the main color becomes greenish-yellow, and the integumentary color already spreads over a significant part of the fruit in the form of a bright violet or dark red blush. In general, externally, the fruits look very attractive, which is reflected in the name of the variety. The subcutaneous points are clearly visible, present in large numbers, and are gray in color. The stalks are short, straight in shape. The funnel is absent; in its place, growths of an indefinite shape are formed, which is one of the varietal characteristics. The seed chambers are small in size, of a semi-open type. The sub-cup tube is rather long and narrow in shape. Seeds are large, wide, dark brown.

The pulp with a creamy shade, loose structure, semi-oily, tender, very juicy, medium aromatic, excellent rich sweet taste with a light spicy aftertaste. On a 5-point tasting scale, the taste of the variety is estimated at 4.7 points. With a comparative assessment of the taste with the Krasnoshchekaya variety (its fruits were brought from the Nikitsky Botanical Garden), the Krasuli fruits turned out to be tastier. In terms of chemical composition, the fruits of this pear contain: dry matter (13%), the amount of sugars (11.2%), titratable acids (0.49%), ascorbic acid (8.5 mg / 100 g). The main purpose of the fruits is to be consumed fresh and in the form of juices.

The fruits ripen in the first half of August (7 days earlier than Severyanka). Pears are stored for a short time, about 10 - 12 days, in a refrigerator - a maximum of 15 days.

The variety is fast-growing, at the time of fruiting trees enter 4 - 5 years after planting in the garden. High-yielding, at the age of 10 years, the trees give up to 40 kg of fruit. Winter hardiness is high. Resistance to major diseases and pests is good: for all the years of observation, not a single case of scab, pear gall mite and bacterial burns was recorded.

The variety is propagated by grafting on the seedlings of the Ussuri pear.

Recommendations for tree care: crown-forming pruning in the first years of growth, then sanitary; 20 - 25 year old trees will benefit from anti-aging pruning. Planting scheme in the garden 6 × 3 m.

The main advantage of Krasulia pear: very beautiful, elegant fruits with high taste.

Among the minor disadvantages: insufficiently large size of the fruit and the presence of thorns in the crown.

We planted a pear Krasula (dwarf) in 2016. There were 3 fruits in the fall. In 2017, there were already 15 pieces. The fruits are beautiful, but small. Pear does not knit, sweet. But I would not say that it is juicy. It deteriorates quickly. They also planted Chizhovskaya and Sverdlovskaya at the same time. Among these three, Krasulia liked the least in terms of taste.

This pear has been growing for the seventh year. Beginning to bear fruit from the third. Delicious, sweet, soft, without astringency, the skin is thin, it can be stored for a week, maybe a little more, but that's what a summer variety. Does not freeze, does not get sick, ripens by the 20th of August. Beautiful Krasulia, we are very satisfied.
