Tomato variety Mazarin

Sometimes it happens that a variety with the same name, with the same care, shows unequal results. For example, everyone's favorite Mazarin tomato. The plant can have different heights, the size of the fruits and the ripening period does not coincide with the description. What's going on? The thing is that there are two varieties with the same name. But one refers to varietal plants, and the other refers to hybrids. And their creators are different. Let's try to figure out and understand how both plants differ from each other.

Mazarin from Biotechnics

This variety has been grown for over 10 years. It was created by the scientists of Biotekhnika LLC, located in St. Petersburg. The appearance of a large-fruited tomato was preceded by many years of work on the selection and crossing of crops. It is not included in the State Register of Plants of the Russian Federation, however, it gained wide popularity among gardeners. It is intended for cultivation in glazed and foil greenhouses or in the open field, with a garter to the support in the south direction. Suitable for regions with temperate climates. From the appearance of the first shoots to the beginning of the harvest, it takes about 110 - 115 days.

The plant is indeterminate, medium-sized, in a foil greenhouse shows growth of 1.5 - 1.8 meters. The stem of the Mazarin is of medium thickness, with slight pubescence. The bush is not too leafy. The leaves of the variety are simple in shape with narrow lobes, drooping. The fruit cluster is laid over the 8-9 node. The next tomato clusters appear after 2 to 3 leaves. Each cluster contains up to 5 - 6 ovaries.

The fruits are very large, fleshy, for which they are appreciated. Average weight is not less than 600 grams. The first brushes form more weighty tomatoes - 700 - 800 grams, on the latter, tomatoes ripen almost 2 times less, weighing 300 - 400 grams. The shape of the fruit is beautiful, heart-shaped, slightly elongated, somewhat reminiscent of the famous bull heart variety. The surface is smooth, glossy. The skin is bright crimson. Mazarin's pulp is dense, sugary, juicy, low-seeded, with excellent taste. Directions for use - in natural form, in salads. But you can also start up for processing.

Tomatoes are grown mainly in seedlings. Seedlings are sown for seedlings in March. They are planted in a permanent place in May - June. You need to add 1 tablespoon of a mixture of superphosphate and potassium sulfate to the hole, mix thoroughly with the soil, spill with water, and then plant the seedlings. During the formation of the ovary, feed with magnesium sulfate. The bushes are rarely watered, mainly during dry periods, when the temperature exceeds a threshold of 30 ° C. The plant is formed into 1 or 2 stems (in the latter case, according to gardeners, the fruits will be smaller than usual). Although Mazarin can form up to 7 to 8 clusters per stem, it is recommended to leave no more than 4. Tomatoes do not crack. Mandatory garter tomato on a vertical support. During the ripening of the fruit, old leaves must be removed in a timely manner. Planting density - up to 3 plants per 1 square meter.

Everyone who has grown the variety notes strong immunity (resistance to late blight and top rot), high yield, the ability to grow well even in partial shade and, of course, the incredible taste of the pulp.

Mazarin F1 from Aelita

This hybrid, which appeared much later than its namesake, was registered by Aelita in 2012. The variety was entered into the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 2013, with admission to cultivation in all regions of Russia. Recommended for open ground and film shelters in personal subsidiary plots. This tomato ripens earlier than its namesake - 95 - 105 days after full sprouting. An early hybrid is an ideal plant for cooler regions, where the crop has time to fully ripen before the onset of cold weather.

The plant is determinate, 110 - 130 cm high, powerful, slightly leafy. The leaves are green, medium in size, with a matte surface. The venation is reticulate. The stalk of Mazarin is strong, slightly pubescent. The flowers are ordinary, yellow, the brush is simple. The peduncle is articulated. The first inflorescence of the variety is laid over the 6th leaf, the next - with an interval of 1 - 2 leaves. Up to 5 - 6 ovaries are formed in each cluster. In film shelters, the hybrid shows a good yield - 13.5 - 14.0 kg per 1 square meter. Almost half of the harvest, 5 - 6 kg per 1 sq. meters, gives for the first 2 collections.

Tomatoes weigh on average 160 - 200 grams. The shape is rounded, with a protruding spout. The structure of the fruit is dense, which contributes to good transportability and keeping quality. There are few seed chambers - 3 - 4 pieces. The sepals of ripe fruits are bent towards the peduncle. The skin is thin, but strong, with a slight gloss, pink-red color. The unripe fruit is light green, without a spot at the stalk. An incompletely ripe tomato may have green shoulders. The pulp of the variety is juicy, sugary, fleshy. The taste of Mazarin is excellent. Purpose - salad, but also suitable for whole canning. Marketability of products - 97%. Unripe fruits ripen well, while they do not lose their excellent taste.

In the southern regions, it can be grown by seed method in the open field. In cool areas, the seedling method is preferable. Sowing seedlings is carried out from March 20 to April 10. In a permanent place, seedlings, which by this time should be 45 - 55 days old, are planted from May 15 to June 5. Tomatoes can be harvested in July - August.

Planting scheme of the Mazarin hybrid: 40 cm between bushes, row spacing - 50 cm. Density of placement - 4 - 5 pieces per 1 square meter. The plant of this variety must be tied up, formed into several trunks, which increases the yield. But too many stems should not be formed, as this will affect the average weight of the fruit. The plant must be provided with regular watering and feeding, loosening is carried out after each moistening, weeding - as needed. With a sharp change in temperatures downward, the tomatoes should be treated against apical rot.

Gardeners praise Mazarin F1 for yield, resistance to black bacterial spot and tobacco mosaic virus, excellent appearance and excellent taste.

Let's summarize. Comparing the two varieties, you can be sure that they differ in the height of the bushes and the average weight of the fruits. As well as the place of formation of the fruit inflorescence. For lovers of whole canning, it is better to plant a hybrid that has suitable tomato sizes for this.

Common features of tomatoes are high resistance to diseases, ease of maintenance, and, of course, excellent taste. In order for the crop to fully comply with the description, purchase seed material only from trusted producers.

Mazarin - a good tomato, but practically no different from the Bull Heart variety. Nothing special. I didn't even start harvesting seeds for next year. In general, so far from the red large-fruited varieties "Miracle of the Earth" have not been met in the Moscow region.
